How to Properly Stretch Cowboy Boots
Cowboy boots are quite a unique piece of footwear in so many aspects not only are they highly varied in style and offered in numerous different designs, but also a good pair of cowboy boots can be easily adapted to your feet even if it initially doesn't fit you perfectly. If you've bought a pair of authentic cowboy boots, made of good leather, you shouldn't worry about slightly not fitting inside them at first as long as you know how to stretch your cowboy boots properly without damaging them, you should be able to adapt them to your feet without many problems.
It's important to clean the boots thoroughly before stretching them use a slightly damp rag and run it along the outside and inside of the boots, getting all the dirt and other build-ups. The quality of this cleaning can make or break a good stretching procedure, so once again, it's important to get it right! After you're done with the initial swiping, with a fresh rag apply saddle soap all over the inside and outside of the whole boot this will give it a coating of sorts, making it look freshly waxed. You should continue rubbing the rag against the boot and all over it, until you've gotten the saddle soap nicely into the leather.
In the end, you should have a boot that's quite damp to touch and softer than usual. Put on a pair of socks and slip into the boots, then walk around for a while. You must spend enough time inside the boots to give them your body warmth, about one hour should usually do it. After you're done walking around, take off the boots and pack them up with damp newspapers, stuffing them in as tightly as possible remember to not push too hard though, as the paper itself can deform your boots and add some unwanted extra shapes to them.
The whole process won't be completed instantly you may have to repeat it several times for up to a week in order to fully get your boots shaped up properly and fit for everyday wearing on your own feet. Remember, it's warmth combined with dampness that change the shape of the boots, so you must get those two factors right when trying to Stretch Cowboy Boots otherwise you may get some results initially but the leather won't retain its shape for long.
